We keep receiving books for review from various publishers. However some books are of such paramount importance that we at the journal office thought one review may not be able to do justice to that book. One opinion may be slanted, perhaps by the individual tastes and preferences of the reviewer. Reviewers from different continents, nations, even different parts of the same nation may perceive a book differently. Why not send books to two or more different reviewers and get their opinion. We requested several publishers to do that and they obliged.
From the last issue we started running reviews of certains books of paramount importance as "featured books". The first book to be featured on our journal was Ecotoxicology: The Study of Pollutants in Ecosystems by F. Moriarty (Published by Academic Press).
The above book was a technical book. From this issue we are starting featured reviews of popular interest books as well. In this issue, two books are featured - one each in technical and popular categories. The book selected for technical category was "A Physician's Guide to Clinical Forensic Medicine" by Margaret Stark.
For the popular books section, we chose a very interesting - if controversial - book. This dealt with investigation into one of the cold cases. So controversial was book that we at the journal office decided to send it to as many as four reviewers across three continents. Here are all the four reviews.
Review 1 by Dr. Gyan Fernando, UK
Review 2 by Professor V.V.Pillay, India
Review 3 by Jay Levinson, Israel
Review 4 by Ndubuisi Eke, Nigeria
