Professor Chao Tzee Cheng, Singapore's icon of forensic medicine, passed away on Monday, 21 February 2000. He died in his sleep while visiting his sister in New York, USA. He had just attended a conference in Hawaii on healthcare Ethics and he was due to go to Reno, Nevada for the AAFS meeting.
He was Special advisor to the Institute of Science & Forensic Medicine of Singapore. He had a distinguished career spanning 35 years. He will be sadly missed by his family, wife Mrs. Joyce Chao, son Dr. Alexandre Chao, daughter-in-law and grand-daughter, his colleagues at the Institute and the Medico-Legal Society of Singapore, and of course by all of the World's Forensic Community.
His body arrived in Singapore on the morning of 25th February from NY. After three days of lying in state, he was cremated on Monday, 28th February 2000.
